At O’Connell Robertson, our history is shaped by the people who have helped build our firm, strengthen our practice, and advance our commitment to the communities we serve. Noel G. Robertson was one of those people.

Noel joined O’Connell Robertson in 1970 as our first engineer and went on to become the firm’s second president, serving during the late 1990s and early 2000s. His leadership helped shape the integration of architecture and engineering that remains central to our practice today.

Through his more than 30-year career with O’Connell Robertson, Noel contributed to projects across Texas, building lasting relationships with clients and helping establish a foundation for the integrated, mission-driven firm we are today.

A Career Defined by Service and Collaboration

Noel’s work reflected the breadth of O’Connell Robertson’s practice and the importance of thoughtful design, technical expertise, and long-term client relationships.

From his work at the University of Texas at Austin and Austin Independent School District to healthcare projects across the state, Noel contributed engineering design, construction administration, and leadership to projects that served generations of Texans.

The relationships he developed with clients and institutions continue at O’Connell Robertson today, reflecting the lasting value of trust, collaboration, and service.

Noel’s work at the University of Texas at Austin represents his contributions to higher education and his commitment to supporting the institutions that shape our communities.

Through his work with Austin ISD, Noel contributed to the educational environments that support students, teachers, and families. His work reflects O’Connell Robertson’s longstanding commitment to public education and the communities it serves.

Texas 9/11 Memorial

One of the notable milestones during Noel’s leadership came in 2002–2003, when O’Connell Robertson was selected by the State of Texas to design the official Texas 9/11 Memorial at the Texas State Cemetery.

The memorial stands as an example of how design can serve a purpose beyond the built environment, helping communities remember, reflect, and honor history.

A Legacy That Continues

Noel’s influence extended beyond the projects he worked on and the leadership roles he held. As an engineer and firm leader, he helped establish the integrated approach that brings architecture and engineering together in service of our clients and communities. His commitment to healthcare continued beyond his professional career, and upon his retirement, O’Connell Robertson established the Noel G. Robertson Endowment for Neuroscience at the Brain and Spine Center at Seton Health Network, now Dell Seton Medical Center.

We are grateful for the foundation Noel helped build and for the many ways his legacy continues through our people, our practice, and our work. His impact lives on in the relationships we maintain, the spaces we create, and the mission-driven work we carry forward together.
