This project involved the complete replacement of the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders in Austin ISD. The new 184,000 SF facility serving grades 6-12 was built on the existing campus while school was in session. The construction on 14.6 acres involved multiple phases and was completed in 2021.
O’Connell Robertson was engaged to provide master planning, programming, and comprehensive A/E services for modernization bringing this school-of-choice up to the new Austin ISD Facility Master Plan educational specifications. Reinforcing that learning is fun and collaborative, the design incorporated architectural features like learning stairs, a reading porch, and slide. Collaborative maker spaces, throughout the classroom neighborhoods, encourage and support the school’s STEM focus.
