The Palo Alto College Natatorium renovation focused on modernization and replacement of an aging, underperforming HVAC system, unable to keep up with dehumidification demands of the facility. The multi-phased design process addressed humidity, ventilation, and corrosion from pool off-gassing. Assessments of the crawlspace and building envelope identified additional issues caused by age and corrosion, resulting in the replacement of masonry veneer, moisture/vapor barrier system and roofing, and repairs to the crawlspace, as well as interior architectural upgrades.
