Funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through its Hispanic-Serving Institutions Assisting Communities Program, EcoCentro provides low to moderate income residents and students with training and placement in “green” building and historic renovation careers.
The William R. Sinkin Eco Centro was designed to provide a space for community members and San Antonio College students to learn about sustainable building design and environmentally sustainable practices. The 3,500 SF LEED-certified facility features classrooms, meeting rooms, solar panels, rainfall catchment system and a community garden where students and neighborhood residents can learn about energy efficiency, historical preservation, and urban sustainability.
