The BINAB project consisted of a 16,754 SF expansion of the existing Interdisciplinary Academic Building at UTRGV. The two-story, steel frame building houses a fitness instructional area and weight room on the first floor and kinesiology and human performance labs on the second floor, as well as an office suite. The new building connects to the existing building with an outdoor walkway on the second floor. The existing drive and parking area were modified around the new building footprint. The BINAB project demonstrates our expertise in lab renovations for higher education facilities.

The BINAB Expansion included office and lab space for the Health and Human Performance department. In order to reduce cost and increase efficiency, the project required reviewing existing conditions and information related to usage of the existing systems. The use and analysis of past chilled water (CHW) distribution reports and previous 12 months of electrical demand, along with site visits and conversations with the facilities personnel, allowed the engineering team to design a feasible and cost-effective solution for this project.
